Southport counselling and psychotherapy for women.
Are you dealing with anxiety, stress, depression or relationship difficulties? Living with the impacts of trauma or feeling the weight of carrying too much?
You can learn to feel more grounded, more confident and be better able to make choices that reflect what matters to you.
I’m Aisling (ash-ling) and I provide Southport-based, trauma-informed counselling and psychotherapy for women.
Perhaps you’re the person everyone relies on. You look like you’re coping but beneath the surface, you feel exhausted, overwhelmed and tired of putting everyone else's needs first.
You may be processing the end of a significant relationship or wondering how to improve the relationship you’re in.
You may have a demanding job, be caring for loved ones, meeting endless expectations and have reached a point where you're wondering:
What about me?
I understand those feelings because I've lived them too. When you’re juggling competing priorities and multiple roles it’s easy to lose connection with yourself.
You don't need to have everything figured out before you begin. Recognising that something needs to change is enough.
I can offer you:
A safe, compassionate space
A place to explore your feelings and the challenges you're facing without judgement.
Deeper exploration
We can look beneath the surface to understand past experiences, patterns and ways of being that may no longer fit with who you are today.
A personal toolkit
Develop practical ways to recognise when you're becoming overwhelmed, understand your emotional and nervous-system responses, and find ways to feel calmer and more grounded in difficult moments.
We can work together to understand what's beneath those feelings and explore what you need now.
Some of these feelings and situations may feel familiar to you:
Anxiety: Feeling overwhelmed or worried about things you used to take in your stride.
Burnout: Feeling physically and emotionally exhausted from holding yourself to impossibly high standards and expectations.
Low self-worth: Feeling that you're not 'good enough' or listening to the critical voice that tells you that you should be ‘better’.
Changing relationships: Feeling worn down by relationship difficulties or adjusting to changing family dynamics.
Identity questions: Wondering who you are now and what matters to you at this stage of your life.
Grief and loss: Coming to terms with the loss of a relationship, a role, a version of yourself or a future you had imagined.
Unprocessed Trauma: Being stuck in fight or flight, having trouble sleeping, self-sabotaging, being constantly on edge.
Perimenopause or menopause: Navigating the physical, emotional and psychological changes alongside everything else life is asking of you.
Empty nest: Feeling the emotional impact of children leaving home, and wondering what this new chapter means for you.
Or perhaps you simply have a sense that something isn't quite right anymore, but you're not sure exactly what needs to change.
Therapy isn't about becoming someone different. It’s about reconnecting with the person you've always been beneath the expectations.
Hello and a warm welcome!
I am a trained, qualified, trauma-informed counsellor and psychotherapist. I have expertise in attachment, loss, and the effects of trauma, anxiety and depression held in your body and in your mind.
I work in person from a private counselling space in Southport and online across the UK.
I can help you make space for yourself; a space where you are held rather than having to hold everything together.
As a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) my work is guided by the BACP Ethical Framework, promoting safe, respectful and client-centred practice.
I am professionally insured, I engage in regular clinical supervision, continual professional development and I have enhanced DBS clearance.
The therapeutic relationship is at the heart of our work together.
It is important that you feel comfortable with me and that we feel like a good fit.
This is why I offer a free 20-minute consultation where you can talk about what has brought you to therapy, ask any questions you may have and get a sense of what it might be like to work together.
There would be no charge and no obligation to start.
